The paper examines the consequences of the social trauma development. In modern conditions traumatic events begin playing a significant role, going beyond social memory and embedded in social, cultural and political processes. In relation to social trauma, different research approaches are formed that emphasize the objective or constructivist nature, use the concepts of social, cultural, collective or political trauma (with similar meanings), and extend the concept to the individual, group or societal level. The social trauma effects can be expressed in various aspects: intergenerational transmission of traumatic memories, loss of identity, increased anxiety, maladaptation, etc. Trauma society is the most destructive extension of social trauma, affecting social well-being, identity, social memory, processes and institutions within the existing system of relations. It is formed as a result of managerial disorganization, strengthening the position of trauma and embedding it in the social system and social processes that construct a changed position of traumatic events in the system of social relations. As a result, trauma acts as a basis for the reorganization of the social system. It is embedded in various spheres of society, social trauma becomes tangible and object, its position is fixed. The article identifies the reasons for the formation of trauma societies, the specifics of their functioning and the consequences of their existence. In the future, it is possible to consider specific examples of trauma societies, the specifics of their formation and functioning, as well as to conduct a detailed study of the work of social systems and social relations within the society of trauma
